Experience Mt. Bromo and it's area by taking an exceptional route on which you will touch the savanna and sense the Sea of Sand.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Bali - Malang - via Tumpang to Cemara Lawang village
You will be picked up at Malang airport by a Jeep. You will be brought to Cemara Lawang village. This village has a good view at the active volcano. As you will drive via Tumpang village - the southern route to Mount Bromo - you can visit both Jago temple and Pelangi waterfall. Then you will be driven through the exceptional savanna and the beautiful black Sea of Sand to reach your hotel. Depending on the time left, you can explore the village, meet locals and get to know their daily activities. You can also spend some leisure time in your hotel.
Day 2: Bromo sunrise - Trekking through villages at Mt. Bromo's feet
Be ready at Mt. Pananjakan before the sun rises. Your Jeep will drive you there. Have a local snack and something warm to drink, before the sun shows itself. During and after the sunrise you have beautiful views over the ancient caldera and the various cones that rose in the caldera over time. When you are ready, you will cross the black Sea of Sand. When the Jeep parks near Luhur Poten temple it will be a 45 minutes walk to the crater rim of the active volcano Bromo. Take your time. Once back at the Jeep, you will drive to Gubugklakah village. A three hours hike through the hilly landscape just outside the National Park will show you authentic East Java.
After the hike you will be driven back to your hotel in Cemara Lawang.
Day 3: Cemara Lawang - Surabaya - Denpasar (Bali)
Your departure time depends on your scheduled flight back to Bali. If time is sufficient, you can visit the Madakaripura waterfalls.
